Deep thoughts and few posts.

I haven’t posted a great deal lately. The excuse is the busyness of life. Being a part of a church plant and a new business venture at the same time has created for a few weeks straight with very long days. But God is incredibly good isn’t he.? ?? :)

Last night I had the pleasure of listening to Pastor Bryan preach. He is an incredible man of God and an incredible friend and guess what God showed up! We will be posting his message soon, so be sure to listen to it and let him know what you think.

AS part 3 of the Disciple series, the crux of his message centered around the life of Peter and how when he had an encounter with God and later the infilling of the Holy Spirit his entire life and demeanor changed. He became a world changer with the singluar purpose of introducing people to the real and risen saviour Jesus Christ.

I had a profound moment of revelation regarding Jesus’ invitation found in 3 of th 4 gospels.

Mt 4:19Show Context

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

Rick Warren and many others talk about purpose, we search for our spiritual gifts, we ask, what can we do for God. But when it gets down to the fundemental purpose of every believer – the reason why we are saved it’s right there in Jesus’ initial invitation.

It’s not about work – He told them lay down their nets.

It’s not about fame, or money, or anything this world has to offer.

It’s about fishing for men – sharing the good news with all who would listen. It sounds so simple it’s true. We know we are supposed to evangelize, we know we are supposed to share our faith, but do we realize that it is our purpose – it is one of the biggest reasons we are saved.

Jesus said – come see – follow me – then tell people about me.

I don’t know why this concept struck me as so profound. I often teach and think about it. But man, it fired me up again last night to be about reaching out to those who don’t know Jesus.

My prayer for each of you who read this is that you would pray. Ask God to put someone in your path. Reach out to them and share the love of Jesus with them. Invite them to a great life giving church. Plug them into a small group. Let the light of Jesus shine through you!
