Food for thought

James 4:17 "…Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins."
Wow.. James doesn’t leave much room for excuses.
I just finished putting my final thoughts into tonights message as we being our new series 30 Days to live. It was inspired by a series of the same name from www.lifechurch.tv
Reading the words of James challenged me to continue to one up my relationship with God and my service to others.
Each day we are faced with choices. How do we spend our time, our resources, etc.
Do we have good intentions that never really seem to turn into actions?
For those of you who know me, I am not big on hospitals. I don’t think Jesus was either.
He didn’t do funerals either..
The other day when I was there visiting Mary Jo’s sister it struck me. There will be no hospitals in heaven. Wow. But.. Today there are people there, sick, hurting, some even dying.. Bible tells us that they are in need of visitors..
So for someone like me that means I can stay in my comfort zone, or I can get to it and go. In fact I am faced with a very easy decision today. Another dear friend and congregant Linda Randall is in the Orange Park Medical Center – We are going there in few minutes full of Joy to see her.
You see, something happens when you seize the day -
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 When we allow the Lord to work in our heart and turn our whens into nows, our willingness into actions, what could have been a sin of ommission turns into something that God uses to bring his beauty into the mess of this world. An opportunity for His light to shine in the darkeness. Lord – continue to remind me of how brief my life is here. Might I use it to do good whenever given the opportunity.
