Great Meetings.

Yesterday I had lunch with Harold Rutledge the incoming Chair of Clay Counties board of County Commissioners. He is not up for election this year, so he was pretty laid back. I really enjoyed the hour or so that we hung out.

We talked about family, religion, politics, economic development, the future of the county and more. Mr. Rutledge was a former police officer in the county before going to work at the commission.

I was thoroughly impressed with him. He was exceptionally passionate about his family and wanting to leave Clay County a great place for our children’s children. He expressed a genuine interest in my family and my families history as well.

On issues of politics I found him to be keenly aware of the needs of the community and full of vision. As the incoming chair of the BCC he also had some great ideas for continuing to take the BCC to the next level in our county. He never talked down of anyone, but rather expressed a great passion for the future of the county. He seemed incredibly genuine in his desire to engage and inform the community.

He also expressed a genuine interest in seeing the faith community engaged in the affairs of the county.

He will be helping lead our city during what has been a bit of a turbulent time for the commission. There are a lot of major issues before the BCC and the counties growth is probably first and for-most among them. There will also be some new commissioners coming on board in about a month, so he will have his hands full.

I just wanted to encourage all the blog readers to pray for him as well as the commission as they seek to serve the people of our community in a real and relevant way.
