The Simple Life – Focus

In a recent post I challenged everyone at Journey to seek God’s wisdom with regards to a Personal Growth and DevelopmentPlan for 2010. Click on that link and you can watch a video about same and near the bottom of the page you can download a template for building one.
Yesterday I talked about the concept of CLARITY - Click Here to view post.
Focus is incredibly important to be successful in life. I used to wear glasses, if I didn’t have them on I couldn’t see a thing. About 5 years ago I had lasik surgery and it brought my eyes back to 20/20 vision – I could see clearly now. My eyes were in focus.
I think of the Body builder – all energy, all focus during training and up to the performance means they need to be 100% focused on the goal set before them.
I recently saw this happen - If a fighter loses focus in the ring even for a second they might get knocked out. In a recent UFC fight, one fighter began to back pedel and turn away at the exact time his opponent threw a kick – it was lights out.
In the life of a leader your problem might not be doing the wrong things – you may have a decent focus with regards to that. More than likely your challenge in the area of focus will be avoiding GOOD things that keep you from the great things God has for you.
Like horses in a race – we need blinders on to everything but the things God has called us to.
Philippians 3:13-15
- 13.
- Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
- 14.
- I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
- 15.
- All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.

Great post Eric! I’ll check out the Personal Growth and Development plan. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18
