2 Big Announcements in 1 week – What?

ok – I am going to throw this out there by posing the sam question to our readers that I posed to the Journey Board of Directors not too long ago.

I would love your gut reaction to the following:

Some people whom I trust are encouraging me run for Clay County Commission Seat #1 which is coming up in August of 2008. I have spoken with a number of individuals over the past 3 weeks to discuss the matter in detail, but have not made any final descision regarding the matter.

Mary Jo and I have prayed and discussed this at length and engaged the kids as well and we feel pretty good about it and the time commitments it would entail. Those of you who know me know my heart for the county and my desire to see it prosper in every way. Our desire to make it better for our children and childrens children.

coming on board was an answer to prayer as it frees me to be in the community more. Most of my community efforts have centered around things of this nature, I would simply discontinue other board affiliations and focus on the greater county as a whole so the time outside of a short window from say June-august of next year really wouldn’t be a great deal more than the community efforts I have put forth over the past 2-3 years.

There would obviously be serious time commitments involved and the magnitude of this decision is not a small one. Balancing responsibilities to God, Family, Church, and the county would require a great deal discipline.

Might my efforts to bett the county be more effective through Journey or through Impact Clay? I don’t know.

Please share your gut reaction and any follow-up questions.

Would you pray for us as we seek to make a wise descision on this matter?

   Go for it Eric. I believe all the things that God has placed on your heart are for a reason. I also have known since the first day I met you at a church outreach in Clay County, your heart burns for this community. I can think of no one more suitable for the Clay County Commission Seat. I think seat #1′s got your name on it. God uses Great leaders to change nations! I think you got the makings. God Bless you in your new efforts!

   Pastor Eric- my initial gut reaction is go for it !
   We need more Christians in government to help the cause of Christ.
   I’ll vote for you (and help you campaign too !)

   Eric…….God raises up leaders in the nations to rule. What better person than you to bring a godly balance to the county while serving in the church. This is part of the marketplace evangelism. We become involved as citizens to bring God’s kingdom to this earth. I will support you!!!!

   God will reveal what He wants you to do and you will know when the answer is revealed. Whatever your choice I will be here to support your efforts in church and/or government.
